Albuquerque –
Just after 6:15 PM, on March 17, Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to a brush fire near 49th St NW and Atrisco Dr. NW. The fire is estimated to be 1/2 an acre at this time, it’s burning on the west side of the river.
It’s unclear if any structures are currently threatened, but AFR is pushing full throttle to build containment lines around the blaze. AFR crews are battling south-southwest winds of 10 mph, low humidity, and 4-5 foot flame heights.
AFR has requested a bulldozer from Rio Rancho Fire Department.

According to radio communication, forward progress has been halted.

At 8:31 PM, we received an email on this fire from AFR which said:
On March 17, 2025 at approximately 6:15 in the evening AFR was dispatched to the area of Atrisco and 49th Street NW in the Bosque for a reported brush fire. The fire grew quickly to about a half-acre before fire crews stopped the forward progress of the fire. 21 units responded to include our Wild Land Task Force and a request for mutual aid from Corrales Fire Department. Stopping the forward progress of the fire took approximately 30 minutes. Resources will remain on the fire for mop up and fire watch. The fire is under investigation. No injuries to civilians or fire fighters were reported. There is no further information at this time.
