Albuquerque –
Around 2:50 PM, a motor-vehicle crash was reported on Interstate 40 eastbound, just east of Broadway near the Big I. A black Nissan and a silver Saturn are reportedly involved. Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department, Police Service Aides, and Albuquerque Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene.
The three right lanes of interstate 40 eastbound are closed. Closures are subject to change as the crash is cleaned up.
The severity of the injuries is unclear, but at least on vehicle was observed positioned in the wrong direction on the roadway.
NMDOT/NMROADS is advising drivers that there is a “crash on I-40 eastbound at mile marker 159, (Big I). The 3 right lanes closed at this time. Proceed with caution and expect delays.”

As of 3:45 PM, the accident is still affecting travel on the interstate.
