Albuquerque –
Mukhammed-emin Idrisov of Brooklyn, New York was driving erratically in front of a UPS truck near To’hajiilee, New Mexico. Idrisov decided to make the UPS driver stop the van and said, “they are trying to kill me, please call for help.” Idrisov forced himself onto the truck and they continued to drive towards Albuquerque.
The UPS driver called 911 from inside his van and informed dispatch he had a man in his vehicle and that they were driving eastbound I-40. Bernalillo County Sheriff deputies observed the UPS truck going east on I-40. The driver told dispatch the felon would hide when cars would pass by but the suspect held a knife towards him.
During the chase, Idrisov told the driver that he needed to go to the police department. When Idrisov observed the police trying to pull them over he showed the victim a bag with a knife.
According to the complaint, he told the victim, “those are not real cops you need to keep driving.”
BCSO and State Police eventually conducted a traffic stop of the van at mile marker 138 on I-40, and they took Idrisov into custody. He was read his rights and he declined to speak with deputies. The driver was physically uninjured during the incident.
The suspect is charged with felony false imprisonment and felony aggravated assault.
