Albuquerque –
Around 6:50 p.m., the Albuquerque Police Department received a call about a vehicle versus pedestrian crash near UNMH, which is located at 2211 Lomas Blvd. NE.
The caller stated it appeared to be a nurse who was hit by the vehicle. People tried to render aid but the person died at the scene.
Areas around the hospital will be closed while they investigate. APD says westbound Lomas at Vassar Dr NE is closed.
The Albuquerque Police Department’s Fatal Crash Unit is headed to the scene to investigate the crash. Police have not yet confirmed whether the pedestrian who was struck and killed is a UNMH employee.
We will update this story if we learn more.
UPDATE:
We reached out to UNMH, and their PIO confirmed that the victim killed was an employee of UNMH.
