Albuquerque –
Around 8:50 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department were dispatched to the area of Espanola St SE and Zuni Rd SE for a motor vehicle crash involving a car and motorcycle. Albuquerque Fire Rescue was also sent.
Upon arrival, responders found one person with life-threatening injuries and transported them to a local hospital, where they later died. Authorities have confirmed the deceased was the rider.
According to APD’s sworn PIO Detective Chase Jewell, the other driver remained on scene.
APD’s Motor Unit is being called out to investigate.
Zuni is closed between Charleston St and Chama St, and San Pablo is blocked at Zuni Rd between Central Ave. Grove St is reportedly closed between Zuni Rd SE and Bell. Road closures may change as the investigation continues.

APD has released a preliminary report on a fatal crash under investigation from Tuesday night in Southeast Albuquerque.
According to Albuquerque Police Department civilian PIO Gilbert Gallegos, officers responded just before 9 p.m. to the area of Zuni Rd and San Pablo St SE, where a motorcycle collided with a pickup truck.
Investigators from APD’s Fatal Crash Unit have found that a red 1995 Toyota pickup was traveling west on Zuni and began turning left onto south San Pablo after the traffic light turned green. At the same time, a red 2013 BMW motorcycle traveling east on Zuni struck the front passenger side of the truck. The rider was ejected.
The motorcyclist, an adult male, was taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries. Police believe the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The crash remains under investigation.
