At 7:58 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department were notified of shot spotter activity and dispatched to a shooting at 611 San Mateo Blvd SE, near Zuni Rd SE and San Mateo Blvd SE. The incident happened in a laundromat.

When officers arrived, they found one person, who sustained at least one gunshot wound. The individual was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital by Albuquerque Fire Rescue. When the person arrived at UNMH, they were listed in critical condition.

We have since learned that the victim died from his injuries at UNMH.

The southbound lanes of San Mateo are currently closed at Zuni due to the ongoing police investigation. Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists of the Albuquerque Police Department are being dispatched to investigate and collect evidence.

We have a reporter headed to the scene, we will update you if and when we learn more.

UPDATE:

We have since learned that APD was en-route to the laundromat for reports of a fight in progress, but before officers arrived, there was a shot fired inside of the business. Last night, two vehicles were reportedly seen fleeing the area. After the shooting, APD was attempting to locate both the occupants of the vehicles and the cars. However, it is unknown whether they were ever found.

As of Sunday, December 8th, 2024, APD has not released the age of the victim, nor have they said if the offender was arrested.

    1. Holly Wood video was on the other side of Zuni just in front of the Highland High Performing Arts and the pool. Looking at the map, its where the Pres family health offices and the Tri Core is now. It looks like the original building was torn down. I graduated HHS a year before the 1996 massacre happened. I used to walk by it at lunch going across the street to the original Wal Mart where the Big Lots is/was. Either way, that area has always been a shithole.

  1. Just a few weeks ago there was a shooting at the laundromat at Sequoia and Atrisco NW on a Sunday morning. It didn’t make the news I believe because the guy was only wounded.

  2. Too bad the show Cops isn’t allowed to make a nightly series in Albuquerque-stan. A state and protection of it’s citizens, is only as good as the leadership that governs it.

  3. ¡Citizens have to be there own heroes in albz apd does not respond claims the feds have their hands tied..bs their all just pussies from the top of the totem pole to the bottom..DEFUND APD..TERMINATE THE STRIPES!
