Albuquerque –

The Albuquerque Police Department, New Mexico State Police, Albuquerque Fire and Rescue, and Albuquerque Ambulance responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian, near the intersection of Montgomery Blvd NE and San Mateo Blvd NE at approximately 11:50 AM.

Emergency medical personnel administered aid and attempted life-saving measures on an individual who sustained critical injuries. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on video footage we received, one individual appears to be lying deceased in the middle of the eastbound lanes of Montgomery.

APD’s Fatal Crash Unit is responding to investigate. APD officers, Police Service Aides, and New Mexico National Guard units have closed eastbound lanes of Montgomery at San Mateo as the investigation continues. Lane closures are subject to expand or change.

UPDATE:

APD has released more information on this crash. They say: “Through the investigation, it was discovered that a white Toyota Tundra was in the right turn lane of northbound San Mateo to turn east on Montgomery. The driver began to make a right hand turn when they struck into a pedestrian in the crosswalk. The pedestrian was walking north across Montgomery in the crosswalk when the crash occurred. The crash is currently under investigation.”
