Albuquerque –
On December 17th, 2025, four siblings decided to head to the Westside Target and do some Christmas shopping with a price tag of over $4,000 worth of goods. The problem is they had no means to pay for the merchandise and decided to leave the store without paying for the merch.
According to a criminal complaint, 19-year-old Isabella Bernal and her 3 younger siblings arrived at the Target and started to fill up shopping carts full of goods. A loss prevention officer from the store knew the elder Bernal from previous shoplifting incidents.
APD was called to the scene and the officer noticed a car staged in front of the store. 3 of Bernal’s younger siblings, Sophia Bernal, Delilah Bernal, and Damian Trujillo tried to exit the store without paying for the items. APD quickly took the thieves into custody and showed other potential thieves the consequences of their actions. Isabella fled in the getaway car for a short time but was later taken into custody.
The complaint goes on to say one of the siblings pulled the don’t talk to the cops card and refused to give them their names. They eventually gave up their names and the juvenile probation office was called.
Due to New Mexico’s extremely weak juvenile justice laws the three siblings were quickly released to their mother. The 19-year-old Bernal was booked into adult jail but should be out in time for more free Christmas shopping.
In the last month she has been charged with felony burglary, and drug charges and she also missed a few court dates.
We can not confirm but have a suspicion all of these kids will be on Santa’s naughty list this year.
Bernal was charged with 3 counts of delinquency of a minor and felony shoplifting over $1,000.
