Albuquerque –

The Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation is urgently calling on the public for support following the theft of a trailer containing essential sports equipment for its children’s wheelchair basketball team. The theft occurred on March 13, 2025, at approximately 11:43 PM from the foundation’s storage facility, and the stolen trailer housed 17 sports chairs and other vital basketball equipment for the team’s year-round program.

Liliana Prado-Bujanda, Executive Director of the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation, expressed her heartbreak over the theft. Prado-Bujanda said “This theft of equipment from disabled children is profoundly heartbreaking and this act is clearly devastating to our children. Our wheelchair basketball team relies on this equipment to participate in the sport they love, and its loss is a significant setback for them.”

The stolen trailer is white and bears the license plate number 88119TRK. The foundation is pleading for anyone with information regarding the recovery of the sports chairs, trailer, or equipment to come forward. The public’s help is vital to restoring what these deserving young athletes have lost.

Carrie Tingley urges anyone with information to contact the Albuquerque Police Department at 505-242-COPS. You can also contact Crime Stoppers, anonymously at (505) 843-STOP (7867) or p3tips.com/531. We asked Carrie Tingley about the GoFundMe that was established, just to make sure it was valid. They responded by saying “one of our amazing board members created a campaign. However, we would prefer that folks go to our website to donate, carrietingleyhospitalfoundation.org, as all money goes directly to our kiddos. Unfortunately, GoFundMe takes a portion of the donation.

  1. Makes you wonder why they bother asking for tips or offering rewards for crimes like this when you know full well law enforcement could track these guys easily if they wanted to. They were undoubtedly recorded by many other security cameras, in addition to the traffic cameras at every intersection. Their movements could be tracked all the way back to their stash house or wherever they went, even if they left town. There are other means at their disposal too, like matching up the times of the recordings with cell phone tower ping records to discern which mobile phone(s) were moving along with the truck. That alone could have narrowed down their identity and they could have every bit of information available on these guys without even leaving headquarters down to their names, addresses, DOB, SSN… everything. But let’s keep up the charade for whatever reason. Maybe they want us to think crimes cannot easily be solved. Maybe the investigative work just isn’t worth the pay-grade since the victim is not a megacorp CEO. Who knows?

  3. I asked a nurse who had two jobs: “Why are the women here, with men who can’t hold a job, work, in debt, drug addict or gambles in debt, lives in their mothers garage, or with their ex, contributes nothing, and abuses them?”
Her response: “That’s just the New Mexico way.”
Now you know why NM ranks #1 in crime, and #50 in literacy.
