APD Officer-Involved Shooting Under Investigation in NW Albuquerque

Albuquerque –

There is police activity near Aspen Ave NW and 7th St NW and Bellamah Ave NW and 8th St NW. Before 7:45 PM, there reportedly was an officer-involved shooting (OIS) involving the Albuquerque Police Department.

One person is in custody. APD has not stated if officers are okay. Information provided only stated “the scene is active and details are limited.”

This is an active and developing situation.

The Multi-Agency Task Force will be called out to investigate.

We have a reporter at the scene working to gather additional information. When we learn more, we will update you.

UPDATE:

APD issued an update on this incident which stated:

The person confronted by police tonight appeared to have been shot and he was declared deceased at the scene. 

We have not been briefed by detectives and we do not know if he was shot by officers.

No officers were seriously injured. However, two officers suffered superficial injuries. They were checked on scene by medical personnel.”
