Albuquerque –
Around 9:25 AM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to a single-story residential structure fire at 2738 Truman St NE. The structure is believed to be abandoned and was boarded up.
Engine 19 arrived on scene first, observing visible smoke coming from the structure and quickly declaring it a working fire. AFR has begun stretching hoselines in the area and has requested the Albuquerque Police Department to block traffic at Claremont and Truman to facilitate and protect hose deployment.
AFR is conducting a primary search to ensure no one is trapped inside. Fire operations will continue under an offensive strategy. The objective is to directly engage the fire and protect lives or property by making entry into the building or structure. The utilities to the property have previously been disconnected.
As of this publication, no civilians were located inside of the structure.
If we gain more information about the structure fire or its cause, we will update you.
UPDATE:
We learned from AFR that this home was an unoccupied home that was purportedly undergoing construction. AFR’s Battalion Chief on scene stated “damage to the structure was contained to area of origin.” The fire extended into the crawl space but was swiftly located and knocked down.
No injuries of civilians or firefighters was reported.
AFR Fire Investigators are on scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
