Albuquerque Based Medical Plane Crashes on Navajo Nation, Four Dead

Chinle, Arizona

A small dual propellor medical transport plane crashed and caught on fire, around 12:40 p.m. this afternoon, near the Chinle Airport.

Four individuals, all non-residents of Arizona, were found deceased on board.

The small aircraft was en route to pick up a patient from a nearby hospital, when the crash occurred.

Next of kin notifications were conducted by the aircraft company, CSI Aviation, of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The National Traffic Safety Bureau (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are currently on its way to the scene to investigate.

The cause of the crash remains unknown at the time of this publication. It’s reported that the plane involved was a Beechcraft King Air 300.

Currently, all access to the airport is closed for investigation purposes.

The NPD Chinle District, Navajo EMS, and Navajo Nation Fire & Rescue Services is on scene.

The FAA will lead the investigation into what happened with a report released later by the NTSB.
