Children’s Court Judge Releases Violent Cold Blooded Killer, Now Primary Suspect in Homicide

Albuquerque –

On August 27th, 2024, the Albuquerque Police Department’s homicide unit investigated a fatal shooting that occurred on the 2600 block of Adams St N.E. Bullet casings were all over the street making the scene look like someone was on a serious mission of death and mayhem. At the scene, 37-year-old Christopher Sanchez was found shot to death in a brutal and deliberate act.

The execution of this man in his front yard was done by a group of teens who were looking to steal property from within his private property. The innocent man was only trying to defend his property from being stolen by a group of young violent killer teens. We have tried to keep the story as updated as possible; however, since many of those charged in the case were teens, it has been almost impossible to track in real time. In our experience, teen records are nearly impossible to obtain because some circles believe these young hitos and hitas can be fixed.

One of the suspects in the killing of Sanchez got our attention. His name is Jovanny Rios and he has just now turned 18. Rios had been on the loose from the Sanchez killing, until he just recently turned himself in to police. We learned however that just last year, while still a teen, Rios had been released by Children’s Court Judge Catherine Begaye without supervision due to competency issues in 2024. This charge stemmed from an attempted murder in which he nearly killed a woman by ruthlessly slitting her throat in 2021, when he was 14-years-old.

A few months later with his freshly awarded freedom, Rios and his low-life teen murder crew decided to murder Sanchez in front of his home over property. Rios is now a full blown homicide suspect and is suspected to be the ring leader of the 2600 block of Adams St. NE homicide. His attempted homicide made him bold enough without consequence to carry out the Sanchez killing.

On July 10th, Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers turned up the heat and posted Rios’ information on their Facebook page and requested the public’s assistance in locating him in connection with a homicide.

According to Bernalillo County Detention Center, Rios turned himself in and was booked on Friday, July 11th, on his outstanding warrants. Rios will be appearing in front of various judges within the adult court system going forward. Most likely he will once again try to game the system and explore the competency route again this time with adult court judges since it worked as a juvenile.

We know the Bernalillo County District Attorney and the hardworking APD homicide detectives will do their part to make a case to keep Rios behind bars until his trials for his felony violent crimes. We will be watching closely to what the next round of judges do to hold these violent criminals accountable.
