Albuquerque –
On September 9th, 2024, the Albuquerque Police Department was dispatched to the area of Richmond Dr. NE and Candelaria Blvd. in reference to a man shooting at another man. A second person called in describing the male shooter and they admitted hearing gunshots.
According to a criminal complaint, police located 24-year-old, Marcos Ramirez of Albuquerque on a bike trail and detained him without incident. Officers also found a holstered 9MM handgun on the man and spent casings in his pockets.
He told police that he had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend and left the apartment to walk to a friends home. He was walking on the arroyo trail when a male on a bicycle rode by him and randomly slapped him on the left side of his face. Ramirez said the unidentified male then cussed at him saying “fuck you” and “you’re in my arroyo.” Ramirez stated he wanted to defend himself and shot one round at the male. After the first round, he decided he might as well unload the whole magazine at the bicyclist.
The shots fired did not strike the alleged victim or anyone else. Ramirez has been charged with negligent use of a deadly weapon. The alleged male victim was not located.
A community trail better not be a part of some gang turf warfare! Police/City needs to put a stop to that before it further escalates.
I kinda side with him. Bicyclists smug pricks that are a nuisance. They only follow the traffic laws that suit them and I am constantly running into ones that ride in the middle of the road, even when there’s a bike lane.
LOL… “Might as well” [sic] mag dump. Had it been a law abiding citizen protecting his home, I highly doubt he would have only been charged with “negligence.”
The headline makes it sound like someone shot at one of those bicyclists on the road, who rides side by side, and dangerously impede and obstruct traffic.
I know, that is what I thought too, and of course the writers did that with the same intent. How those cyclists are not ran over daily, amazes me. This was just a typical day in “Tomorrow Land.” -“Okay, Ms. Ramirez, you can come pick up your mijo now.”
