Man Shot in Face Near Car Wash in SE Albuquerque

Just before 8:55 PM, the Albuquerque Police Department received reports of a shooting near the Mister Car Wash at 2020 Gibson Blvd SE. APD was notified that New Mexico State Police were already on scene and that the victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the face.

While APD officers were en route, they were further informed that the victim had fled to the nearby Panda Express, located at 2040 Gibson Blvd SE, after being shot, where he encountered NMSP officers. Emergency personnel was taking the person to a local hospital as a “scoop and go,” indicating critical injuries.

The offender fled the scene.

Officers from the APD and NMSP have closed the Panda Express and Mister Car Wash to gather evidence at both scenes. Gibson is closed between Yale Blvd and Walker Rd and Miles Rd SE is closed between Yale Blvd and Walker Rd. Closures are subject to change.

Early information indicated that the NMSP would be taking the lead in this investigation.
