Luis Ornelas-Robles was charged in a July 28th, 2022 homicide in Albuquerque.
SW Albuquerque – BCSO deputies and detectives responded to 4321 Coors Blvd SW to investigate a homicide on July 28th, 2022. BCSO says that around 8:00PM, during a physical fight between two men, one male produced a gun and shot the other male killing him. It was the 100th homicide of 2022 for the Albuquerque metro area. BCSO homicide detectives were able to track down the killer and convicted felon, 29 year old Luis Ornelas-Robles for the murder. The victim has been identified as Guadalupe Sandoval.
Witnesses say at least 5 rounds were fired and the victim was struck in the neck and other parts of his body. The male suspect was wearing all black at the time.

According to a criminal complaint, Sandoval went searching for and located his stolen truck at the Allsups on Coors and Blake SW and confronted Ornelas-Robles. Sandoval pointed a gun at Ornelas-Robles and a struggle happened. The two then have a gun battle in the parking lot and Ornelas-Robles gets hit twice by bullets in both his legs. Sandoval is also hit with a fatal shot and dies on scene.
The complaint goes on to say, Ornelas-Robles and a female identified as, Jessica Houston, were seen getting into a dark colored F-150 with bumper damage that fled the scene. Witnesses were able to give a license plate number of the truck, but it came back to a different vehicle. Detectives were able to find the stolen truck in a remote part of the Pajarito Mesa on the far westside of Albuquerque. Through detective work BCSO was able to locate Ornelas-Robles and he was already in custody at the Valencia County Detention Center for unrelated charges after the murder of Sandoval A check found he was in custody for receiving and transferring a stolen motor vehicle in Los Lunas.

Detectives were able to secure text messages from Ornelas-Robles that he had sent to a girlfriend:
“Baby I’m not going to be able to go tonight I’m sorry like I’m fucking up dude I fucking got shot don’t it’s nothing bad but I did get shot in my legs I love you but I’ll let you know what’s happening in a little bit they’re bringing me someone that knows whatever the fuck it’s called the doctor.” (Sic)
The gun used in the homicide has not been recovered at this time. Ornelas-Robles has been charged with Receipt, Transportation or Possession of a Firearm or Destructive Device by Certain Persons Receiving or Transferring Stolen Motor Vehicles (2nd Offense)Tampering with Evidence (Highest Crime a Capital, First or Second Degree Felony)Tampering with Evidence (Highest Crime a Capital, First or Second Degree Felony).
