Homicide detectives from the Albuquerque Police Department are taking over the investigation of a woman who was shot late Tuesday in Downtown ABQ.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at 11:10 p.m. in the area of Central Ave and 8th St. Officers located the victim, an adult female,with a gunshot wound.
She was transported to the hospital for treatment. Since the injury was not originally fatal, Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit responded to start an investigation.
The shooting victim died this morning at a local hospital. The case is now being handled by homicide detectives.
Early this morning at 12:39 AM, we had contacted the Albuquerque Police Department about this shooting. At 1:18 AM, we were advised by APD that “as of now GVRU is responding.” No further details were given at that time.
