APD Investigates Deadly Crash Near Indian School and Moon

Albuquerque –

At approximately 5:17 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department and personnel from Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 9400 block of Morrow Ave. NE, near the intersection of Indian School Rd NE and Moon St NE.

Upon arrival, responders located an elderly female victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Albuquerque Police Department’s Fatal Crash Team is currently investigating this incident.

We will provide updates as APD releases further information regarding this recent crash.

UPDATE:

A preliminary investigation revealed that a white Chrysler van, driven by the elderly female, arrived at her residence and she attempted to park in the driveway, which is on an incline. The driver failed to shift the vehicle into park. As she got out of the vehicle, the van began to roll backwards and the female was briefly dragged by the vehicle before falling, at which point the van rolled over her. She sustained fatal injuries.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded quickly and placed the victim into a rescue vehicle, however, she was not transported to the hospital, as she had been declared deceased prior to departure.
