Albuquerque –
21-year-old Cesar Villa and 18-year-old Julian Carmona racked up felony charges regarding a motor vehicle crash and a shooting in Southwest Albuquerque.
On February 13th, Carmona and Villa were in a traffic crash at the intersection of Central Ave and Atrisco Blvd. Witnesses called 911 stating after the crash gun fire erupted and a silver sedan fled the scene. Another car picked up people from the crash and took off from the scene.
According to the criminal complaint, while Carmona was driving the getaway car, a concerned citizen followed Carmona’s car and confronted them. The witness said a thug hung out of the vehicle’s window and fired toward the vehicle.
The complaint says Villa told officers, “I was getting a ride and its irrelevant where I was sitting in the vehicle and that it did not matter.” on where he was sitting and denied shooting at witnesses.
The complaint states, Villa was transported to the Southwest Sub and asked to go to the bathroom and a search of him was conducted. The officer felt a grip of a handgun in his waistband and it was identified as the lower part of a Glock 9mm handgun.
It was unclear if the gun’s slide was found on Villa making this gun fully operational in a secured APD holding cell.
The complaint goes on to say officers found multiple packs of THC cartridges, nicotine vapes, a bottle of alcohol and a magazine with live rounds in it laying behind the passenger seat floorboard. An actual gun was not found in the sedan during the initial search.
The complaint says the car had ignition damage and Carmona’s mom came to the scene with the keys to the vehicle. The mother was the registered owner. Witnesses said they saw many teens in the vehicle and Carmona drove to a remote area to hide them. They were not able to locate the passengers from the vehicle.
Villa was charged with 4 counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, six counts of contributing to a delinquency of a minor , shooting at or from a moving vehicle, Conspiracy to a Commit a 3rd or 4th Degree Felony, and Tampering with Evidence.
Carmona was charged with embezzlement of a motor vehicle, conspiracy to commit a felony, and leaving the scene of an accident.
