Around 10:15AM, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office was in pursuit of a suspect in the area of Broadway and Lomas Blvds. According to witnesses, the suspect vehicle was going over 100MPH down Broadway and it slammed into a vehicle near the intersection.

We arrived just minutes after the crash and observed three vehicles involved and a man could be seen on a gurney in handcuffs. A few ambulances headed to UNMH filled with other crash victims. BCSO Deputies had the main suspect detained and they escorted him to an ambulance.

According to BCSO Sergeant Connor Otero, deputies were in pursuit of one of the vehicles involved. After the crash the offender attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody. All parties involved in the crash were taken to area hospitals with non life threatening injuries.

While on scene we did observe deputies separating families of crash victims who showed up on scene. We heard one family member yelling, “Come here bitch, you almost fucking killed my family!”

The busy downtown roads around the crash area were closed down as BCSO investigated the scene.

Sgt. Otero said the suspect will face charges related to the pursuit and the crash to include, aggravated battery on a police officer, resisting, aggravated fleeing, and leaving the scene of an accident.

We would be extremely surprised if this young fella does not have prior incidents with law enforcement.
