Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting Under Investigation at Hotel Parq Central

Albuquerque –

This morning, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department responded to a call about a woman armed with a firearm at the Hotel Parq Central, located at 806 Central Ave. SE. Shortly after their arrival, shots were fired. The armed woman was struck and pronounced dead at the scene.

No officers were injured.

The Multi-Agency Task Force is investigating this officer-involved shooting.

No additional details are available at this moment, but when more information is released, we will provide an update.

For 2025, this is the eighth officer-involved shooting involving the Albuquerque Police Department. Of those incidents, six were fatal and two were non-fatal.

APD announced that the woman killed during an exchange of gunfire with police has been identified as Desiree Herrera (1/29/1989).
