APD says their investigators have exhausted all efforts to locate the next of kin for Gerard. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

From what records we could gather, Gerard possibly has ties to North Carolina and West Virginia. She has a lengthy criminal history in New Mexico and at the time of the crash, appeared to be unhoused based on NM court records.

We have listed only the charges since 2017 below:

  • On January 17, 2017, she was charged with DWI (Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs) for the first time. She pleaded guilty and was given a deferred sentence.
  • On August 17, 2017, she was charged with abandoning a child (without causing death or serious harm), reckless driving, and resisting or obstructing an officer during arrest. She pleaded no contest and again received a deferred sentence.
  • On July 14, 2018, she was charged with attempting to commit a felony by trying to batter a police officer. She pleaded guilty. Initially, she was sentenced to confinement, but it was amended to probation, which she violated. Warrants for her arrest were issued on September 28, 2018, and November 13, 2018, but she was never taken into custody. Her probation was eventually closed.
  • On February 27, 2020, she was charged with criminal trespassing. In April 2023, she entered a plea of not guilty but amended it to no contest in February 2024. On February 27, 2024, a bench warrant was issued for her arrest for this charge.
  • On March 10, 2020, she was charged with driving while her license was revoked (not related to DWI) and not having proof of insurance or registration. On April 26, 2023, she pleaded not guilty. This charge was dismissed because the prosecutor failed to appear in court on June 14, 2023.
  • On April 25, 2023, she was charged with stealing a vehicle, resisting or evading an officer, and possessing burglary tools. On April 25, 2023, APD Detectives from the Auto Theft Unit were alerted about a stolen city vehicle. The car, monitored electronically, was tracked as a woman named Alexandria Gerard drove it from its original location to a nearby residence. Detectives followed the car to another area, where they disabled it. Gerard fled on foot but was quickly caught and arrested. She chose to remain silent when read her rights and was taken to the Albuquerque Prisoner Transport Center on charges of vehicle theft and resisting arrest. This was dismissed by the prosecutor (nolle prosequi), but the charges were refiled on May 12, 2023. The prosecutor charged her with stealing a vehicle (first offense), possessing burglary tools, and resisting or obstructing an officer while being served a legal notice. On March 15, 2024, a warrant for her arrest was issued for this case. The prosecutor requested that she be held without bond. Her trial was scheduled to begin on August 19, 2024.

    1. Hi Trish, no she was out, perhaps because the initial charge from April 2023 was dismissed. The prosecutor did refile in May 2023, but it is unknown if she was out of custody when things were refilled. In March 2024, they had issued a warrant for her arrest. From what we could see, she actually had two active warrants for her arrest. For the latter case, which was going to court on August 19th, the prosecutor specified that if she was found that she be held without bond. I hope that helps clarify things.

    2. When did it become acceptable to list all the wrong doings of a person while announcing their death to the world! And sadly, people really want to comment on the sad state of the legal system we find this city to be in! Maybe if we actually found the reasons as to why someone committs a crime then we could actually help fix the legal system by actually helping people rather then tossing them to the side and labeling them as this or that! But hey she’s just another dead girl right! Have some common decency and treat people, dead or alive with some level of respect! And as we ALL know; “if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all!” I do realize common sense isn’t all that common; but please do hault at showing your dislike for someone that can now no longer defend herself!

      1. Said very well thank you I was getting upset buy then I read ur comment n I thank you cuz sad to say, she was a friend n we was dog sitting for her n now knowing that she don’t ever gonna come back for them talk bout pain..but once again thank you for ur words…

        1. Uneducated. You better check yourself. How about your watch your mouth before it beats up someone hand. Show some respect for other human life. Because you ain’t shit and are far from perfect. How about you get a life and quit talking shit about someone’s daughter period the end !!

          1. Kiddo, I don’t think of you as “human” at all. You’re simply rabid vermin, resorting to empty threats of violence in the absence of any coherent, rational response.
So, one more time, since you were obviously too dense to understand the first time around: RESPECT YOUR BETTERS.
(By the way, you replied to the wrong comment. Twice. Yeah, you’re bright.)

  1. A CRIMINAL CUNT YOU SAY. SO common sense says that makes you just another punk ass scared little bitch if you died. The world would be better off without the likes of you and ur high horse thinking your shit don’t stink. Your a real hard texter bet you wouldn’t say that shit to someone’s face. Everyone is someone’s child even you unfortunately. Would your family owe you after your display of your complete ignorance? I bet not!!

    1. Shut your mouth and respect your Betters. Maybe use that time for a few English lessons so you don’t sound like a typical, uneducated Albuquerque vato that no one of value will ever respect or take seriously.

      1. Respect my betters, well that sure as hell ain’t you! Let me guess you were constantly picked on in school for being a total nerd, teachers pet, etc. Which makes a lot of since as to why you know your opinion doesn’t matter to people in the adult world. People pity you for your up bringing or abuse or whatever it is that has made you as ugly as your thoughts. As for me I was the kid who would check a mf ( like yourself ) right up side your head for speaking when no one wanted to hear your bullshit time and time again. You obviously were never disciplined when you needed to be by your sperm donor or oven. Which i gladly would knock some common since into you. So like I said people pity you for there being something really fucked up about you that they say can’t not be fixed. So bless your soul.

  2. You know Lexi was my Friend, she was the best friend you could ever hope to find she wasn’t perfect but neither am I and neither are any of you. So before you bash on someone you never knew stop and think about the people who will never ever see her again, who will never hear her voice or feel that warm feeling when she walks in a room.

  3. Please keep her family in prayer. We had been praying that she would get her life straight. Sometimes that is not the case. Please be respectful to her family in this time of need. We miss her dearly and don’t know what to do with ourselves. Sometimes choices are harder to make than others. Sincerely her step-sister Shanna Iversen. Thank you so very much! Love you so very much my Sister!

    1. Ok, since they insisted on bringing up ALL of Alexandra’s charges, AFTER her untimely passing. January 2017, DUI, pleads guilty. Isn’t it possible she was drugged and subsequently got arrested for DUI. So, if that is possible why would she plead guilty. Well, let’s just say that maybe she couldn’t prove being drugged and was facing better chances accepting the DUI charge.
August 2017, abandoning a child (without death or serious injury. Well, maybe she went to work leaving said child in the care of someone else. But, that person left the child alone. This could result in her being charged. Reckless driving, (just a couple months after the DUI charge), maybe she switched lanes without a turn signaled or dropped something and quickly tried to pick it up but swirved a little, cops read her plate saw she was previously charged with DUI and possibly assumed that she was intoxicated again! But, when they realized she wasn’t they hit her with reckless driving. And resisting an officer; well t some point we all have had enough. Maybe she felt she didn’t really do anything wrong and was only trying to explain that to the cops; they didn’t want to hear it, said she was being difficult, resulting in such a charge!
July 2018, battering of a police officer. OK, so your walking down the street showing your friend your newly manicured nails, you’re minding your own business and a cop stops you, questions you, and then detains you. Your ANGRY (rightfully so, cause you weren’t doing anything wrong). You verbally argue maybe even verbally assault the cop (neither are illegal). The cop puts you in handcuffs but while doing so you start to ball up your hands. But, as you start closing your hands, those fresh nails of your ACCIDENTALLY scratch the officers hands which are holding your hands. And just like that you are hit with a felony!
February 2020, trespassing. She heads to a friend’s home to pick up some clothes, already arranged. But the friend isn’t home, she doesn’t want to make another trip so she uses the key under the mat to enter the home. As she is leaving, clothing in hand; a man walks down the stairs. They don’t knoweach other. He’s a roommate and she’s a friend of his roommate. He calls the cops saying there’s an intruder in his home. She’s apprehended for trespassing, not because she used the key under the mat allowed by her friend, but because she wasn’t given explicit approval to use it that day and for that purpose!
March 2020, driving while license was revoked (not related to DWI), no proof of insurance or registration. The milk just ran out and her kids really want cereal for breakfast. She jumps in the car to run to the gas station a block away. Meaning no harm of course, but she gets pulled over. She doesnt get the milk but rather cited for multiple offenses!
April 2023 stealing a vehicle, resisting or evading an officer, and possessing burglary tools. She gets to her ex-boyfriends home to pick up her child, taking the bus to get there. But there is a problem, a major problem. The child is laying on the couch, looks to be sleeping. As she attempts to awaken the child, they
don’t wake up and thats when she sees the bruises. She now realizes her baby is hurt and is in need of immediate help. Not having a car and knowing it could take in upwards of 30 minutes for an ambulance to show up; she rushes
toward the door, her child in her arms, grabs the screwdriver on the counter next to the door. She jumps into her exes car, gently placing her child in the seat next her. She inserts the screwdriver into the ignition (just so happens exboyfriend lost the car keys and uses said screwdriver himself to drive his own car! So, without a second thought, she “steals” his car to rush her child to the hospital. The ex, being a jerk that he is, calls the cops accusing her of this, adding that he believes she garbbed a screwdriver to be able to start his car because he refused to give her his “keys!” Rushing her child to the ER; she knows she shouldn’t be driving BUT her child needs immediate help. Previously being charged with abandoning a child, she is also worried that if she waits the possible 15-30 minutes for the ambulance her child could get worse (and she would get charged with that). So, she gets to the ER, and as she is finding out what has happened to her child; the police walk in. She obviously is thinking that they are there because her child came in unconscious and covered in bruises. But, to her dismay; they are only there to arrest her for “stealing” her exes car. Not wanting to leave her child’s side, she resists, and is charged with that as well. And the car key; rather the screwdriver, well that simply represents what is known as a burglary tools!
SO WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN…. SIMPLY PUT, YOU NOR I TRULY KNOW WHY SHE DID WHAT SHE DID; NOR IS IT OUR PLACE!
LET THIS WOMAN REST IN PEACE!

          1. Never mind. This is stupid. No one knew her very well, she made bad decisions like we all have done&will do. If all you “bashers” had just 1 iota of
good heart that Lexi had, this world would be so much happier. I’m blessed to have gotten the chance to call her daughter&love her.

      1. It says the stolen vehicle was a “city” vehicle which had a tracker on it. It also says she drove here and then to a residence. You say she drove to the hospital? Did she have no family? The report says the cops have now done all they could to find her next of kin and were unable to. Maybe you should find some way to have all her charges reprinted with what you’re saying happened. She got several warrants for not showing up to things, so those would definitely be on her. Sadly, regardless of any excuse, if you’re breaking the law and get caught, you’re either getting a ticket or going to jail. I’m sorry for your loss. My aunt was murder in 2011 and the news put up her worst mugshot, called her a prostitute and also listed her charges. They’re ruthless and don’t care about the families of victims. Praying for her to rest in peace and praying for those who knew her.

  4. Firstly, I just want to say that it takes less muscles to smile then too frown! And I am certain that when you speak such hate about someone or something, you can’t possibly be smiling… unless of course your just psychotic, and with a name like “exterminator” you just might be! But going back to the initial comment posted on August 12 at 10:28am and the follow-up by news desk at 10:52am (same day literally minutes apart). This means that someone from news desk is activities watching this thread. SHAME ON YOU! NEWS IS SUPPOSED TO BE UNBIASED and yet you jump on here and respond contining the outlandish acceptance of speaking I’ll of this woman! But, you stay silent when someone calls you out! Seems like YOU have also made a mistake (here)! So as much as you want to dog this young lady, whom again CAN’T SPEAK FOR HERSELF, you need to own up to YOUR biased mistakes made here…. You see, YOU do have the opportunity to change your ways; but sadly no matter the reason, she no longer does!
MOST IMPORTANTLY, TO ALL OF HER FROENDS AND FAMILY…. I AM SO BEYOND TRULY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. I OBVIOUSLY DIDN’T KNOW THIS HUMAN BEING; BUT WHEN I SAW THEM DESECRATING HER NAME/CHARACTER KNOWING SHE COULDN’T FIGHT OFF EVEN MORE DEMONS AFTER DEATH; I HAD TO SPEAK UP! I do realize the “dead girl” comment probably sent you into uncontrollable tears…. it was merely a wake-up call to all of this inhumane people that we probably call neighbors and maybe even friends! But I am glad that it has allowed for this type of conversation to be had; it needed to be had! Please do, family and friends, contact the police. Let them know that this human being IS SOMEBODY AND YOU ARE NOW HERE TO REPRESENT HER LIFE, POSITIVELY! AND HECK EVEN ASK EM TO TRY TO REMOVE THIS INTITIAL NEWS STATEMEMT (may need a lawyer for that). Or at least contact news desk and ask them to retract or write a follow up! Doubt that will happen because again, when someone commented something that they liked, they quickly responded… but of course NO ONE from news desk responded to mine or any of your comments “bashing” them and truly only asking that they show this PERSON some respect!

    1. Terry (Mom),
I truly can’t understand how or why anyone could speak so ignorantly about another human being! We ALL have f***** up in life and we are not meant to judge others, rather we should literally seek out what needs to be done to help build what’s around us. It is absolutely not anyone’s place to speak hate on another! So, with that, Terry, Uaskme01, and Shanna, and the rest of her family and friends; I am so truly sorry for the loss of what seems to have been an amazing person. Please try to keep positive thoughts even through people’s disgustingly horrible comments! They aren’t worth your time and effort! And even with their hate, when they arw no longer here, people will miss them! My point is, like I said we have all f’ed up, and those comments are literally just one way they f’ed up in life! I do hope you guys find peace amongst all the chaos!

      1. Thank you. I’m glad you thought of her as a friend!
We all have inner demons, we have all made mistakes. And NO ONE is perfect. Just God
can judge. She did have a giving heart, and I’m sorry she got the crappy end of life. RIP my love. See you on the other side!!

  5. Everyone should keep their terriblecomments&bashing of my daughter!! (Step daughter, but still my daughter!!!)How do you know if she was ok mentally?? Physically?? The people who love her&muss her matter mist! The rest of you “bashers” can just jump in the river!!! She was a good hearted girl who was a little lost!! And she is greatly loved&missed. I love you my gurl!!!

  6. Uneducated. You better check yourself. How about your watch your mouth before it beats up someone hand. Show some respect for other human life. Because you ain’t shit and are far from perfect. How about you get a life and quit talking shit about someone’s daughter period the end !!
