Albuquerque –
Just before 9:10 PM on Sunday, March 16, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department (APD)’s Southwest Area Command and Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) responded to a vehicle crash near the intersection of Unser Blvd NW and Los Volcanes Rd NW. When AFR was dispatched, they were apparently sent for a vehicle vs pedestrian crash.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered an unresponsive person who was not breathing. AFR’s Rescue 7 reportedly attempted life-saving measures, but the individual was purportedly pronounced dead at the scene.
As of this posting, APD has both directions of Unser Blvd closed between Los Volcanes Rd NW and I-40. It is also believed that the exit ramp from eastbound Interstate 40 to southbound Unser is closed.
APD’s Fatal Crash Team or APD’s Motor Unit is anticipated to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
If we learn more about this collision or the individual struck, we will update you.

There needs to be a traffic light on the Unser exit on eastbound I-40 for those wanting to turn north onto Unser. It’s dangerous for those attempting to turn left. Over the years, I have seen accidents there, also debris and skid marks left from previous accidents.
We were driving through after it happened and saw the body in the median the people that hit the person stopped and stayed there, so that was good. Our dashcam caught everything so when I showed my mom she said she definitley didn’t think they survived because it looked like a lot of blood was coming from their head, but we remained hopeful and prayed all night. We kept refreshing news channels/this channel for an update. This isn’t the news we wanted to hear I feel so bad..

Most of the NM drivers shouldn’t be allowed to drive. They are bad drivers, not knowing the laws or caring.
Then add in tinted windows they can’t see out of; reckless driving, speeding, no turn signals, cut you off- because they think road rage is legal, then add their crazy meds, xanex, oxy or fent fake oxy they are on… their weed- because they can’t cope, and then the endless texting they just have to do.
