There is currently police activity in the McDonald’s Parking Lot on Coors and Alameda, 1600 Alameda Blvd NW. The McDonald’s restaurant was placed on a shelter-in-place order while the situation is ongoing.
From what we could ascertain, a male driver in a Honda CRV allegedly attempted to strike an Albuquerque Police Officer. Subsequently, APD followed the vehicle, starting near Glendale and Modesto. The vehicle purportedly had three flat tires when APD began tailing it. The vehicle reportedly proceeded to Louisiana and turned westbound onto Paseo. The individual in the car traveled westbound until reaching Coors. It then turned onto Coors and continued for a considerable distance, ultimately arriving in the McDonald’s parking lot.
Presently, APD is working to apprehend the individual. It’s important to mention that no pursuit occurred due to the vehicle’s flat tires. An eyewitness informed us that officers were seen outside their vehicles with their guns drawn.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
If we learn more about this activity, we will update you.
UPDATE:
We clarified the McDonald’s location. While APD Officers initially referred to it as “Old Coors and Alameda” on the radio, it seems likely that it was merely a mistake during the information relay process when setting up the perimeter.
UPDATE 2:
At 1:00 PM, we spoke to an eyewitness, who reported that the suspect responsible for the police activity had been taken into custody.
According to a McDonald’s employee, the restaurant is no longer in a shelter-in-place.
If we learn more about the suspect from this incident, we will update you.
