Karen Parramoreno, 30

Albuquerque, NM –

Karen Parramoreno, a 30-year-old woman with outstanding warrants, was arrested on February 10, 2025, after a standoff with police at a residence on 9101 Volcano Rd NW. Officers initially responded to the location to serve a warrant for a battery on a police officer incident. Upon arrival, they made contact with Parramoreno, who refused to cooperate and barricaded herself inside the home.

According to the police report, officers knocked and announced themselves, but Parramoreno refused to open the door, instead engaging in verbal ramblings. Officers informed her she was detained and not free to leave, warning her that her refusal to cooperate could result in additional charges. After a brief exchange, Parramoreno exited the house but refused to step off the porch, then retreated back inside and locked the door, making loud banging noises as if barricading it.

Supervisors were notified, and a perimeter was established around the residence. Multiple announcements were made via PA system, ordering Parramoreno to surrender. When she failed to comply, the SWAT team was deployed and took over the scene. SWAT officers ultimately entered the home and took Parramoreno into custody. Police reports indicate that force was used during the arrest, though the original responding officer did not witness it.

Parramoreno was transported to the Prisoner Transport Center and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on a felony warrant, a misdemeanor warrant, and a new charge of resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer. She was released on her own recognizance on February 11, 2025.

This incident follows previous encounters with Parramoreno documented in police reports. On January 1, 2025, officers responded to a domestic dispute at the same address involving Parramoreno allegedly damaging property and acting erratically. The caller reported that Parramoreno had been seen using drugs and had destroyed a security camera and a potted plant. She then barricaded herself in the bathroom, making concerning statements about harming herself.

Prior to that, on December 15, 2024, Parramoreno was arrested at the Isleta Resort and Casino for trespassing. Per the criminal complaint, she also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest for aggravated assault. During that incident, she resisted arrest, requiring officers to use a leg sweep technique to subdue her. She was booked on an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault and additional charges.
